DLC Standard
DLC Standard identifies commercial LED products that meet the DesignLights Consortium’s applicable technical requirements for their product category. For many commercial and industrial lighting programs, a qualifying DLC listing is an important eligibility checkpoint.
DLC Premium
DLC Premium is a higher-performance classification for eligible products that satisfy additional requirements beyond the applicable DLC Standard baseline. Whether that changes rebate value depends on the individual program sponsor.
DLC LUNA
DLC LUNA adds requirements for eligible outdoor lighting with the goal of reducing light pollution while maintaining efficiency and appropriate visibility. LUNA addresses factors including uplight, spectral characteristics and controllability.
ENERGY STAR

Section 179D: The Energy Efficient Commercial Buildings Deduction
The federal incentive commonly associated with EPAct commercial-building efficiency is Internal Revenue Code Section 179D. Lighting can be part of the energy-efficient commercial building property evaluated under the provision when applicable statutory, technical and certification requirements are satisfied.
For tax years beginning in 2026, IRS instructions identify a base maximum deduction ranging from $0.59 per square foot at the qualifying minimum energy-savings level up to $1.19 per square foot at higher qualifying energy savings, before any applicable increased-deduction rules.
Important 2026 Change
Federal law terminated Section 179D for property whose construction begins after June 30, 2026. Projects that began construction on or before that date may still warrant review under the applicable rules. Customers should consult qualified tax and engineering professionals before relying on a potential deduction.
